The AR-15 Rifle is a semi-automatic rifle created and produced
originally by the ArmaLite Corporation and has since been the
work horse of several armed conflicts worldwide it is the de facto
standard on what a war rifle should be. It was designed by Eugene
Stoner Armalite's top designer. Forged from air craft grade aluminum
and polymer, the AR-15 rifle was made to be lighter and shorter
than more traditional rifles of it's day. The fully automatic
version of it is called the M16 rifle. When the AR-15 came in
to use is was dubbed as the " Black Rifle " as most
of the rifles of it's day were made of steel and had wooden stocks
and were essentially brown and black rifles. The air craft grade
metal was blued which appeared black and so was the color of it's
polymer stock making it all black, hence the term the Black Rifle.
The popular round of it's day was the 7.62 x 39 mm (AK47) round,
but to due to it's large size most rifles caring this round could
only carry 5 - 10 rounds in it's internal or external magazines.
The AR-15 was designed around the smaller 5.56x45mm NATO Round
which gave way to higher capacity magazines and soldiers could
easily tote around anywhere from 15 - 30 rounds when the AR-15
made it's debut. The 5.56x45mm NATO round proved to be extremely
lethal as it stumbled on entering a target and would create large
gaping wounds. Today the AR-15 is a favorite for law enforcement,
military troops and civilians who use it as a home defense or
hunting rifle. This site was created as a resource for owners
of AR-15 rifles or those looking to purchase one.
